Not so long ago, my son’s Boy Scout Troop made the journey to the Antietam National Battlefield. As a history buff, and more specifically the Civil War, this was an amazing journey. There were more American casualties in twelve hours than any other day in American military history. More than 22,000 dead and wounded littered the field after the battle. It is a powerful place. I suggest a visit to the cemetery in addition to the battlefield tour.
